Pais que querem filhos fortes, mas não deixam os filhos enfrentarem nada | Parents who want strong children but do not let their children face anything

E a vida é feita exatamente disso: limites, frustrações, desafios e escolhas.

Parents who want strong children but do not let their children face anything

Working in a school allows us to see the change in generations. With each generation we can observe how children are becoming more vulnerable, anxious, immature and surrounded by overprotection.

The case of Alícia draws a lot of attention. An 11-year-old girl was beaten to death in the school bathroom because she said “no” to dating a boy.

She lost her life because a boy heard “no”. How far has the human capacity gone to take someone’s life just for being rejected?

This is not a simple “no” from a girl. This is a mistake of permissive parents who always say “yes” to everything, who do everything their child wants.

A child being frustrated in childhood, having limits and facing difficulties can make them stronger. It is not about beating, hurting, abusing or causing psychological terror, but about understanding that they cannot have everything and that parents are the ones in charge.

Parents, please look at your children. Many are emotionally unwell. They need less cell phone and more love, less technology and more affection.

We are creating a generation that has access to everything but often does not know how to deal with basic frustrations. A generation that does not learn to hear “no”, that does not learn to wait, that does not learn to respect limits.

And life is made exactly of that: limits, frustrations, challenges and choices.

Educating is not only about protecting. Educating is about preparing. Preparing for the real world, where things do not always happen the way we want.

When parents take on the role of solving everything for their children, avoiding any discomfort, they end up preventing them from developing emotional maturity.

Maybe it is time to reflect on what kind of adults we want to form in the future. Because children who never learn to deal with frustration can become adults incapable of accepting limits, rejection and responsibilities.

And raising a strong child does not mean giving them everything they want, but teaching them that the world will not always say “yes.”
